New homes on a tricky backland plot.
This site is to the rear of three rows of semi-detached housing. It is triangular in shape, has no street frontage, and has limited access via a narrow drive.
The rear gardens of the surrounding houses are well stocked and include a number of mature trees. The setting is distinctly suburban.
The proposed scheme is a sensitive and contextual solution that responds to the scale, rythm and materiality of the surroundings. It is contemporary response to the large-format semi detached housing that surrounds it.
Each block comprises a pair of gabled wings to each side of a central entrance. There are two flats per floor and the block is two storeys with a third storey located within the steeply pitched roof.
A significant area of the site has been retained as communal amenity. This provides space around the block which separates it from the existing terraces.
Planning permission was obtained for Landhold and the scheme is being constrcted by Skillcrown for Moat Housing Association.
