Park life in Southwark
The inclusion of communal pocket parks is at the heart of the proposal. Sensitive integration of the buildings into the scale of the adjoining urban fabric coupled with high quality external spaces and contextual materials, provides an opportunity to create a sustainable community in the heart of Bermondsey.
The scheme consists of four blocks, two reinstating the streetscape to Lynton Road, one centrally to the rear of the site and one containing three-storey town houses. A permeable pedestrian route through the site links the residential blocks and the communal pocket parks.
Awards: Gold Standard - Building for Life, highly commended as the ‘Best New Development in the Affordable Homes Sector’ in the Evening Standard Awards 2011.
