New and improved place to stay
The existing three storey building on the site was previously used as a hostel for short term accommodation for the homeless. Fronting onto Commercial Road, adjacent to Our Lady Immaculate RC Church with Grade II listed Limehouse Library located adjacent to the church, the site falls within the St Anne’s Church Conservation Area.
The scheme provides seventy four individual rooms with communal cooking/ dining and laundry facilities and a ground floor lounge area with twenty four hour concierge.
The ground floor entrance is recessed and angled and glazed full height, creating a sheltered, single focal point of entry. The remaining ground floor is a combination of brickwork and a ‘woven brickwork’ screen to the reception area, creating solid and void. Window openings are deep set to reveal a full brick depth and predominantly offset, reflecting the stacked internal room layouts.
