Cedar shingle clad residential terrace
Alan Camp Architects have recently completed the detail design and construction of Peter Barber’s Ziggurat Homes for Southern Housing Group.
Working together with Geoffrey Osborne Ltd, the development occupies a narrow site backing against industrial buildings in Assembly Place and a student housing block adjacent to Stepney Green Conservation Area.
The terrace completes the fourth side of the square in the existing Southern Housing Group ‘Stepney Green Estate’ that is to become Hannibal Road Gardens. This involves new hard/ soft landscaping to create a delightful community garden.
Clad in cedar shingles, they form a row that is stepped and notched, overlooking double aspect private garden terraces at ground, first and second floor levels. The development was completed on time and praised by all involved, including the end user tenants.
