The Brass House

The key to the design is the dramatic spine wall running through the two storey-house that contains all the property’s ‘servant’ spaces such as, bathrooms, kitchen, stairway and hallway, with the ‘served’ living and sleeping spaces branching off this.  This allows the living spaces to be open and flexible, flowing into one another.  This is further enhanced by an internal, glazed courtyard, with bi-fold doors, providing natural daylight into the centre of the rectangular shaped floor plan.

Externally, the house features a perforated brass panelised rainscreen that stands proud of the structural masonry wall, creating a visual play of lightness in contrast to the spine wall’s rough and heavy textured black/ green stone rendering.
