Local architect to build orphanage in Ghana
Local project architect Adrian Geaves, who works for Southwark-based practice Alan Camp Architects is off to Nkoranza, Ghana to help build a much needed orphanage he helped design.
Adrian, who has been given a three month sabbatical by his employer, first visited the site for the new orphanage in December 2006 with the charity Architects for Aid (A4a) who are currently trying to raise £15,000 to help fund the project.
“The new orphanage will care for around 30 youngsters who have been orphaned through AIDS or abandoned by their parents,” explains Adrian. “It’s being built using local technology, labour and materials on a strip of farmland that’s been purchased on the outskirts of Nkoranza.”
