Wanley gets approval

Planning permission was received by Urbanicity for a demolition of disused Oriwu Spot Public House and development of 20 residential properties in Camberwall.

The proposed development provides fi fteen private market and five affordable shared ownership units, two of the affordable units are wheelchair accessible homes.

Careful consideration was taken to minimize impact of the development on the adjoining nursery, therefore vehicular access to the site was relocated to Wanley Road. The massing of the building steps down from four storeys to two storeys alongside the nursery car parking forecourt. No windows within 22m distance are proposed to ensure that there is no overlooking issues to the nursery playground.


All of the units enjoy dual aspect orientation except three of one bedroom homes. All upper fl oor units have private amenity space in form of balconies and terraces, while ground floor units benefi t from level access landscaped private gardens. Additional communal garden for all residents is located on the third floor level.

Main material of the building is a light rustic multi brick with a dark multi tone brick element one fronting Wanley Road and the second highlighting the main communal entrance on Green Dale. New extensive evergreen planting is proposed on the development site to improve appearance of the existing security fence and to mitigate any overlooking from the proposed car parking and communal terrace.
